Four Realities of Larry Marder's Beanworld!

On sale now!

Printed and "on the water" as we used to say in the toy bizniz.
On sale in July!

In the editing and production stages with Diana Schutz at Dark Horse Comics
Show above in its in-studio production binder.
On sale in November 2009.

Books One, Two, and Three combined as a trilogy
make up the Beanworld Springtime story cycle.

Book Four: (Title to be announced later)
The green folder above is filled with a lot of stuff for Book Four.
What kind of stuff?
Twenty, thirty year old story fragments and idea shards,
pages that are in layout stage or totally finished
that just didn't feel right in the Springtime cycle
and were deemed to be premature for "Here There."
It's Summer stuff!
I'm working on it already!

Yay! Even though I have all the issues, I'd like to buy the first two of these again. Looking forward to the upcoming now-ness.

:) :) :) :)

My daughter's face lit up when I told her the new Beanworld was finished and would be out this fall!

She immediately made me start rereading Vol. 1 to her.

Willow's been LOOOOVING the first Beanworld book, we've been talking about the story and characters all week, though she asked me what the 'holy polies' eat, and I couldn't answer that, because I don't know! Do they soak in minerals from the chow as well?

She's very excited about the second book, and I'm resisting the temptation to just break out my issues and let her read them now.

Me, I'm excited for book three - that's totally going to be my birthday present to myself this year!

I own the original issues, but they're in a box somewhere. I'm not going to pull them out, because I'm really enjoying reading it in the new format. I feels good to hold these hardcovers.

I read Wahoolazuma to my son Eli and he absolutely loved it. We'll definitely get "A Gift Comes" when it's available.

I do think the story-telling technique gets a little redundant when not being read as a serial, though... I'm referring to the way that the details of how the world works is repeated in each issue. However, I think that this continuing repetition is one of the things that my son responded to. It's part of what makes it a unique and curious book, I guess.
