Functioning Antiquity Discovered!

This morning while doing the Chicago Tribune's crossword puzzle,
I stumbled upon this incredible 20th century pencil sharpener in my Mom's kitchen!

It works perfectly.

What a GEM of a find, huh?

I still use a slightly newer antique than this to sharpen my non-repro blue pencils, since non-repro blue pencil leads for mechanical pencils are an extinct species.

These things always gave me a scare in elementary school. Have you ever seen it sharpen a pencil without the cover on?

Terrifying! It was like some angry little meat grinder.

I think there is a springboard for a horror story in that observation, Wil!

I have a similar antique at home that I use for the sole pencil I use each week playing D&D.

I like the shape and angle of the point on these devices much more than the ones provided by electric sharpeners.
