And a happy Turkey Day to you!

I have discovered some unforseen consequences in creating holiday images. A year ago, I produced a surrealist sketch of a turkey and described it sardonically as a "Happy Turkey."

This month, that page became the most popular on my site; it seems that many people were searching for images of happy turkeys. The stats show, as of this writing, that 98 people reached that page as their point of entry to my site.

The stats also show that for 98 people, that page was the point of exit from my site... I imagine that some of them couldn't hit the back button fast enough. %?)

"Take what you want but eat what you take" is something I often heard in my youth particularly at summer camp. I really had no idea it was a WWII slogan until just now. If you had told me that it was a variation on something Benjamin Franklin wrote for Poor Richard's almanac...I wouldn't have been surprised either. I think it is a real pearl of wisdom though! Thanks for sending that along, Kim.

And jja...I often think the turkey is a surrealist bird in general. Benjamin Franklin had a rather high opinion of it when he wrote his daughter and said that it would have made a better national symbol than the bald eagle.

And ken...there is no such thing as too many beans in our house!
